Server Rules & Terms of Use

Greetings, young Raven!

The following terms of service outline our rules and expectations for members of our community. These policies apply to our in-game realms, community Discord, forums, and all other official social medias.

Please remember that while playing on Ravencraft, you’re part of a collective effort to maintain a community with the same vibrance and friendliness many of us fell in love with back in 2004 — so treat others well, and immerse yourself in the world of Azeroth!

Table of Contents
Fair Play

Ravencraft is a project focused around awarding players for investing their time and effort into a character’s progression, and as such, we do not allow any form of unfair advantage to be obtained via cheating, exploitation, or paid progression.

The following are considered Cheating/Hacking, and are forbidden on our network:

  • Use or promotion of any hack, cheat, or other client modification to gain an unfair advantage over other players. This includes botting and automation.

  • Use or promotion of any programs to automate the control or actions of your characters. This includes multi-boxing software or any other methods which allow you to synchronize your characters.

The following are considered Bug Abuse/Exploitation, and are forbidden on our network:

  • Abuse of any bug or exploit to obtain unfair gains (gold, items, experience, reputation) or glory (killing NPCs, killing players).

The following are considered Real Money Trading (RMT), and are forbidden on our network:

  • Purchasing of gold, items, accounts, names, boosting, or other services for real-life currency or donation tokens.

  • The cross-realm trade of gold.

The following are considered Boosting, and are forbidden on our network:

  • Hosting or participation in GDKP raids, where players are expected to pay for their progression by purchasing raid drops with gold or other in-game items.

  • The sale of boosting services. Boosting services are considered paid or tipped runs where a notably higher leveled character will complete a dungeon for lower leveled character(s) in exchange for compensation. Players may however sell their services (tanking, healing, or damaging) in dungeons within their own level bracket, with level 60s considered their own bracket.

Gameplay Limitations

While playing on Ravencraft, we encourage players to find the playstyle that suits them best and enjoy Azeroth in their own way. However, we have a few restrictions on multiboxing, PvP, challenges such as Hardcore, and griefing other players.

Multiboxing

Multiboxing is the act of running multiple WoW clients simultaneously (whether through a third party program, or manually switching yourself between clients). This can entail having multiple clients open on a single computer, or utilizing multiple computers.

On Medivh we permit Multiboxing with the following constraints and exceptions:

  • It is forbidden to multibox using any third-party software to assist in controlling the additional characters, or any other methods which allow you to synchronize your characters.

  • It is forbidden to multibox more than 2 accounts (2 characters) within the same map zone (Elwynn Forest, Wetlands, Mulgore, The Barrens are all examples of map zones). There are no limits on account/character count in Capital Cities.

  • It is forbidden to multibox if either character is participating in Challenges such as Hardcore, Slow & Steady, Boaring Adventure, Traveling Craftmaster, Vagrant's Endeavor, Path of the Brewmaster. The only exception is characters being in Capital Cities (Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, Undercity, Ironforge, Darnassus, Alah'thalas) for the purpose of trading, professions, teleporting, crafting, and other interactions strictly between the multiboxed characters.

  • It is forbidden to multibox with characters in the same zone if either character is flagged for PvP (including Warmode) even if you are not actively in PvP combat.

  • It is forbidden to multibox if either character is in a battleground.

  • It is forbidden to multibox in LFT groupfinder parties.

  • It is permitted anywhere (including the same zone) to use no more than 3 accounts/3 characters exclusively for the purpose of Summoning Rituals.

  • It is permitted anywhere to multibox as long as the above restrictions are not violated.

  • Characters found to be in violation of these rules are subject to being locked.

PvP Rules

PvP is a staple game-mode for any MMO, but over the past twenty years, Vanilla PvP has grown increasingly daunting for newcomers. Our goals are to reduce toxicity, encourage fair play, and lower the barriers of entry for new players.

The following are considered Unfair Play, and are forbidden on our network:

  • Win-trading, which is the practice of intentionally throwing a game to allow another player/party to win so that they may gain rewards.

  • Open world win-trading, which is the practice of intentionally letting a player kill your character repeatedly for the purpose of them gaining honor.

  • Faction betrayal, which is the act of intentionally healing or otherwise assisting a PvP flagged member of the opposite faction in your party when they are fighting someone from your faction.

The following are considered False Enlistment, and are forbidden on our network:

  • Using multiple accounts to queue on both sides so their faction can join, and then leaving without playing the match or not accepting the invitation.

  • AFK-ing during a battleground.

  • Refusal to participate in a battleground, where a player only occasionally moves to evade automatic AFK removal and passively farm honor.

Safespotting is the act of PvPing from an advantageous position that cannot be reached through regular jumping or walking. If you got to the position by using a spell, consumable, wall climbing, or other unintended means, it is likely safespotting.

  • The best way to easily determine safespotting is by asking “am I intended to be able to utilize this position?”

  • In the open world, players may fight freely from any position that doesn’t require hacking or other exploits to access.

HC Rules

Leveling Challenges on Ravencraft are intended to add an extra layer of difficulty to the leveling journey, and further immerse a player in Azeroth. However, we have a handful of rules to ensure the integrity of these challenges.

  • It is forbidden to multibox if either character is participating in any Challenges, such as Hardcore, Vagrant, Slow & Steady, Boaring Adventure, etc — characters found to be in violation of this rule are subject to being locked.

  • Hardcore characters cannot be restored under any circumstances. All deaths are final, regardless of the cause, including disconnects, crashes, latency, network or ISP issues, bugs, or other unforeseen circumstances.

  • Characters participating in the Hardcore challenge are forbidden from being boosted by players outside their group, even for free. This rule does not forbid one-off “natural” encounters, rather it bans a continual and intentional alleviation of the challenge.

  • We have implemented numerous safeguards and protections to ensure that Hardcores are unable to be flagged outside of their own direct action. Players will not be punished for killing Hardcores if they are flagged for PvP.

Griefing

Griefing refers to the act of intentionally ruining the experience of another player beyond the normal gameplay loop. To ensure the game remains enjoyable for players of all different levels and types, we have forbidden a handful of behaviors:

  • Farming quest givers, flight masters, important quest objectives, or otherwise important NPC's for long periods of time and blocking other players from accepting or turning in quests.

  • Impeding a player by following them around and tagging mobs they need to kill for a quest.

  • Kiting a group of mobs into another player's (AoE) spells in order to kill them.

  • Interfering with any player trying to complete The Balance of Light and Dark or the Stave of the Ancients quest chain.

  • Dropping infernals and doomguards on a group of players in low level zones.

Behavioral Expectations

On Ravencraft, we encourage players to come together, form communities, and adventure with their fellow players. There are some rules that we must insist upon to maintain healthy and family-friendly vibe on our server. These apply to topics such as names and chat communication, and aim to maintain a immersive, enjoyable atmosphere.

Loot Rules, Gambling, and Scamming

In Azeroth, your word is your bond. Players are expected to carryout any trades they agree to, without delay or exception. The following are our rules regarding loot rules, gambling, and scamming.

  • Agreeing to a transaction only to steal the materials or attempt to extort a higher price is considered scamming, and is forbidden on our network.

  • Agreed upon loot rules must be followed for the duration of an instance. In LFT, group loot will be treated as the agreement.

  • All gambling/casino services must only be hosted and advertised within the Bilgewater Cartel cities, including Rachet, Booty Bay, Everlook, and Gadgetzan.

Forbidden Names

We encourage, but not require, RP-friendly names to increase immersion in our fantasy world. The following are considered Forbidden Names, and are not allowed on our network:

  • Names referencing important figures such as politicians, social activists, religious leaders, etc.

  • Names which have political, religious, or otherwise controversial connotations or meanings.

  • Names which mock others, including extremism, sexism, racism, etc.

  • Names which are overly vulgar or sexual.

  • Guild names which include real-world countries.

Chat Expectations

In order to maintain a healthy community and ensure our content remains accessible world-wide, we have some limitations on usages of our in-game chat service. We both look to safeguard younger players on our network, and allow players of all ages to escape from the stress of the real world and immerse themselves in Azeroth, with the following behaviors not allowed on our network:

  • Discussion of overtly sexual or otherwise vulgar topics.

  • Discussion of politics, religion, or other controversial matters or figures. Keep the politics exclusively Azerothian!

  • Encouragement of racism, sexism, homophobia, extremism, violence, doxxing, or other hate speech towards individuals/groups of people.

  • Insulting or otherwise harassing a player or group (such as a guild).

  • Attempting to impersonate another player, or a member of the Ravencraft Team.

  • Use of non-default colors for your chat messages.

  • Promotion of phishing websites, cheats, or links containing explicit content.

  • Use of other characters to evade someone’s use of /ignore to end communication.

  • Use of any non-English language in public channels, with the exception of guild advertisements.

  • Repeatedly sending unreasonable mail to clog a player’s mailbox.

Roleplay Policies

Medivh is an RPPvE realm, which means there are a handful of added rules we have put in place to protect the roleplay portion of our community. The following are forbidden on this realm:

  • Intentional disruption of RP events or interactions. This does not extend to PvP — if you are flagged for PvP and are killed, it is not considered griefing.

  • Bad-faith trolling behavior of RP scenarios.

  • The use of TurtleRP profiles to spread hate or extremism, or otherwise to harass other roleplayers.

  • NSFW Content on a profile which is not flagged NSFW.

GMs and Support

Ravencraft is proud to provide live 24/7 support in-game from real GMs, not bots.

For assistance with in-game issues, please open a ticket in-game, either by using the command /gm or by pressing the red ? icon on your micro menu and clicking “Get help!”.

To appeal a GM’s decision, please open a ticket in our Discord server for a Supervisor to review. To appeal an account suspension, please log in to our website and click “Manage Account”.

Interaction with Game Masters

Game Masters are real people dedicated to protecting your in-game experience and upholding our community standards. Please treat them with respect at all times, even when you disagree with a decision.

  • Game Masters can only be identified in-game through their official character names and tags.

  • Do not insult, harass, threaten, or attempt to manipulate Game Masters through false claims or other means. Such behavior may result in account restrictions or closure.

  • Game Masters will not use their position while off-duty or outside official in-game channels.

  • If someone claims to have connections to a Game Master in order to threaten, pressure, or justify inappropriate behavior, please report them.

  • Game Master decisions are considered final unless a review is warranted.

  • Requests for review are limited to one per case. Additional requests may only be accommodated in exceptional circumstances.

  • Game Masters do not handle or have decision-making authority over ban appeals, but may assist with submitting or managing an appeal.

  • Game Masters cannot share internal processes, information about other players or guilds, or other private or confidential information.
